(To the anniversary of Kanat Omarbayev)

An evening of vocal music to the anniversary of the opera singer and teacher, Honoured Artist of the Kazakh SSR, Professor of the Department of Vocal Art and Conducting of the Kazakh National University of Arts Kanat Omarbayev will be presented by the leading soloists of the theatre and his grateful students.

Kanat Omarbayev has had a glorious career, starting as a student at the Kurmangazy Kazakh State Conservatory (1973) in the class of Professor V.N. Orlenin and becoming a soloist at two of the country’s leading opera theatres – the Abai Kazakh National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre (1973-1998) and the K. Baiseitova National Opera and Ballet Theatre (2000-2013).

In 1998, he was invited as a teacher and dean of the Vocal and Choral Faculty at the Kazakh National Academy of Music (now the Kazakh National University of Arts), where he has been working until now. He brought up a pleiad of bright vocalists who successfully work in many cultural institutions of our republic.

The concert programme features arias and duets from the classical opera repertoire, as well as romances and songs by Kazakhstani composers.
