Cinderella
The author of the libretto (based on the fairy tale Sh.Perrault) and choreographer – Raimondo Rebeck, known to our audience for the one-act ballet How long is Now? ("How Long Does It Last Now?") and "Beethoven – Immortality – Love", which had great success.
The ballet will present a familiar fairy tale story about Cinderella in a modern reading. The plot of the fairy tale and the characters are preserved, and the time and place of action are transferred from the Rococo era to the present and back. The romantic relationship between Cinderella and the Prince is revealed against the background of the realization of their creative ideas: Cinderella (Ella) dreams of becoming a couturier, and the Prince is a composer and DJ.
Sergei Prokofiev's music performed by the Astana Opera Symphony Orchestra is complemented by the atmospheric acoustic sound of modern popular compositions by Jimmy Durant, Billy Ray Cyrus, Louis Armstrong.
The choreography of the ballet is solved in the neoclassical style with elements of pop dance and break dance.
The ballet "Cinderella" is a kind and beautiful performance for family viewing, carrying the idea of the opportunity to realize your dream, regardless of life circumstances and social origin.
