Award Ceremony and Concert

The UMAI National Award, established by the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, is an important undertaking and a grand event in the cultural life of Kazakhstan.

This wonderful initiative makes it possible to discover new talents, see unique productions staged in regional theatres, support national artists and trace trends in our culture. 

As the scenic art equivalent of the Academy Awards, the Umai Awards come in four main categories: Theatrical Art, Musical and Performing Arts, Choreographic Art, and Fine and Decorative and Applied Arts.

The awards ceremony will be held with the participation of celebrated figures of national art. It will feature bright concert numbers: extracts from operas, ballets, and musicals, as well as performances by instrumental ensembles and soloists.

Before the awards ceremony begins at 6 pm, an exciting performance will take place in the foyer of the theatre: an exhibition of paintings and sketches, a theatrical costume show and a workshop of decorative and applied arts artists, after which the finalists and guests of honour will walk down the red carpet to the hall.

The audience will be lucky enough to be the first to know the names of the winners, who are the new stars in the national musical and theatrical scene.

Tickets purchased at the State Opera and Ballet Theatre “Astana Opera” are subject to exchange and refund only in cases of cancellation or postponement of performances. In all other cases, no refunds or exchanges will be made.
