P. Tchaikovsky’s Vocal Music Concert

Vocal music is an important part of P. Tchaikovsky’s creative heritage. The first vocal pieces came from the pen of young Tchaikovsky when he was a student of the School of Jurisprudence.

In total, Tchaikovsky composed 103 romances and songs, seven vocal ensembles (duets and trios), which differ in a large variety of genres. In addition to lyrical romances, he has lullabies, serenades, elegies, ballads, mazurkas, gypsy romances and, finally, children’s songs.

High mastery and exceptional comprehensibleness, innovation, and most important, extreme sincerity of lyrical expression, all these have made Tchaikovsky’s vocal music popular with a wide audience.

The concert, which bears the name of the romance “It was in the early spring”, will feature not only the chamber and vocal works, but also arias and duets from P. Tchaikovsky’s operas.
