The First Violin of the Astana Opera Orchestra – Honoured Worker of Kazakhstan Bagdat Abilkhanov opens a series of concerts dedicated to the 250th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven. He will play all ten sonatas for violin and piano created by the great German composer. Saltanat Abilkhanova, laureate of international competitions, will perform the part of the piano.
We are used to the fact that Beethoven’s music is heroic images, symphonism, large scale, drama... However, it also has a different side, which was expressed in chamber compositions.
Two of Beethoven’s favourite instruments – violin and piano – found a happy unity in composer’s ten violin sonatas. Most of his sonatas were written in the early period of the artist's work. They can be called the locus of gratitude and hope of the author: he dedicated them to his teacher Antonio Salieri and high patrons. Moreover, they interconnected the echoes of the 18th century chivalry with new musical ideas, which later Beethoven implemented in piano sonatas and symphonies.
