Mikhail is a former aircraft designer, and now just a grandfather. One day, on December 31, he and his grandson Seryozha pick up a dog that was hiding from the New Year's fireworks, and they name him Styopka. The grandson is taken away by his parents, and soon Mikhail becomes ill. Now Styopka has very little time to call for help and save the life of his owner. But it is very difficult to do this, because no one knows the dog language. The only way out is to find Seryozha, who, as it seems to Styopka, understands him. And then the four-legged hero goes to the other end of the city to meet incredible adventures.
