Bela. The hero of our time

The play «Bela. The Hero of Our Time» staged by Milena Nesterova (GITIS, Moscow) is timed to the 210th anniversary of the great Russian poet, prose writer and playwright M.Y.Lermontov. Caucasus, XIX century. Bored in the mountain wilderness, ensign Pechorin steals the horse of the Circassian Kazbich. The horse was very much wanted by Azamat, the fifteen-year-old son of the local prince, and Pechorin steals the horse in return for Azamat's kidnapping of his older sister Bela.

However, Kazbich himself is also partial to the beauty. Pechorin does not care about the reaction of the Highlanders, and a chain of dramatic events ensues. This is a philosophical play that poses to the audience the most important questions about the meaning of life. The plot gives the audience the opportunity to feel how exciting and exciting, but at the same time tragic love can be.
