Qozy Korpesh and Bayan Sulu are favourite heroes of Kazakh folk tales. Each hero of the performance Qozy and Bayan, Kodar and the Elder, Father Kozy and Karabai has its own leitmotif and plastic language. The lives of the ballet's characters are closely intertwined with Kazakh legends. The story of great love and its confrontation with dark forces is as eternal as the moon and the sun above the earth. The fusion of the national language of dance with classical ballet and modern technique allowed the authors of the performance and the artists to create a ballet-epic with a unique national flavour.
The author's interpretation of the tales of Qozy Korpesh and Bayan Sulu, proposed by ballet director Georgy Kovtun, combines the best traditions of classical and contemporary ballet; characteristic movements of Kazakh folk dance and forceful elements inherent in acrobatics; innovative performance techniques and complex scenography; unusually rich and colourful costumes of the characters and mesmerising sets; amazing lighting effects and memorable music. Everything in this marvellous performance is stunning and makes a strong impression.
