In 1997, on the basis of the Akmola Philharmonic, the Philharmonic of Astana was established. Today this institution is on the front line in the cultural and educational life of the capital and its main goal is the popularization of Kazakh and world classical music.
The history of the Astana Philharmonic is rich in events. It has passed a huge way, namely launched a multilateral concert and musical-lecture activity and as a result, for a little more than 20 years:
- It has been awarded the status of "academic", the first and so far the only one in the country (2014);
- the number of creative groups has been increased to 13, including orchestras, choirs, dance ensembles, and singing departments;
- educational programs have been launched;
- the Creative Union of the Philharmonic of Kazakhstan has been established;
- more than 100 awards and various titles have been won.
In addition, the Astana Philharmonic Hall holds festivals such as "Shashu", "Serper", "Oz Elim", participates in city celebrations, provides musical accompaniment at the opening of major state facilities, creates concerts dedicated to the anniversaries of major artists (for example, the 45th anniversary of the film "Angel in the Tubeteika"), participates in flash mobs. For example, open-air concerts with free entrance have become a tradition and are now called "Uli Dala".
But the Philharmonic's greatest asset is its performers. Here work folk and honored artists A. Musakhadzhaeva and K. Baibosynov, B. Baisagatov, S. Turysbekov, A. Ulkenbaeva, B. Temraliev. Philharmonic artists regularly go on tour to near and far abroad: Italy, Germany, Russia, Greece, the USA, etc., as well as give charity concerts.
