In 1924 in Petropavlovsk, the North-Kazakhstan regional historical museum was formed - a place where the history of the region can be traced since ancient times!

On the area in 2400 square meters there are expositions:

• of the nature of the North-Kazakhstan region
• the oldest history;
• formations and formations of the Kazakh statehood. Kazakh ethnography;
• since 1900-1940;
• about the Great Patriotic War;
• the period from 1945 to 1991;
• independent Kazakhstan;
• on current activities and life of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The museum fund consists of more than 350 thousand exhibits. On their basis, visitors are opened such topics as natural features of the district, the origin of man, tell about the settlement of Botay (one of the first places of domestication of horses in the world), about the formation of the Kazakh Khanate, and then the development of the city in the 18th century. The events of the 20th century are fully covered: revolution, civil war, Soviet system and gaining of sovereignty.

The overview of relations with neighboring countries, namely Russia, is an impressive part.
