(Dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Aytzhan Toktagan)

 

An evening “Kyui – Gumyrym, Ustazdyk – Tugyrym” of the researcher of dombra art and traditional folk music, teacher, professor, Honoured Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aytzhan Toktagan is dedicated to his anniversary.

 

Kyuishi’s long creative life is full of bright events. A graduate of the Almaty Conservatory combined his studies with work in the Kurmangazy Orchestra, where he adopted invaluable experience from renowned dombra players of that time – K. Zhantleuov, R. Omarov, Sh. Kazhgaliyev and others. With the orchestra, Aytzhan Toktagan has performed in all regions of the republic, the CIS countries and abroad: Finland, Poland, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Mongolia, Syria, France, Italy, Turkey, Japan, America, China, etc.

 

Together with the concert and creative activity, A. Toktagan began pedagogical work – first at the P. Tchaikovsky Musical College, then at the department of the Kurmangazy Conservatory in Almaty. He trained a lot of talented young dombra players.

 

Thanks to the research work of A. Toktagan, many new names, directions and styles were discovered in Kazakh dombra art.

 

The work of A. Toktagan was highly appreciated by the state. He is an Honoured Worker of Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Professor of the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory and the Kazakh National University of Arts, Honorary Worker of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan; awarded with the Letter of Gratitude from the President of Kazakhstan and the jubilee medal “20 years of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan”.

 

Famous Kazakhstani musicians – colleagues, students and followers of the brilliant maestro, teacher and researcher will take part in the concert.

 

The concert will feature songs and kyui of Kazakh composers.
