Destiny (2024)
"Fate" is a dramedy about how chance and circumstances can shape the life of a young man as he faces the harsh realities of a big city and unlucky situations. It’s a story of growing up, finding oneself, and accepting one’s destiny amidst uncertainty and loneliness.
Azat is a nineteen-year-old boy from a small village who decides to leave his hometown and start a new life in Almaty. He dreams of becoming successful and independent, so he gets a job as a mason in his older brother’s construction crew. His plan is simple: work hard for a few months, return home with money, support his family, and improve his circumstances.
But on the day of his arrival, his brother is unexpectedly delayed at a construction site in another district, high in the mountains. Azat finds himself alone in a vast, unfamiliar city with no shelter, no money, and, worst of all, no acquaintances.
However, everything changes when a single incident — a run-in with a group of strangers — becomes a turning point in Azat’s life. He gets drawn into a chain of events that will profoundly alter his destiny. What seems like a random encounter turns out to be the spark that ignites a series of complex developments affecting his life, his relationships, and his future.
On his journey, Azat meets all kinds of people — from kind-hearted individuals willing to help to those who exploit his naivety and lack of caution. He confronts the harsh realities of the big city, where survival often demands decisions that conflict with his moral principles. Each new challenge forces him to rethink his life, his dreams, and what truly matters.
