Nurikamal (2024)
1988. A time when the country stands on the brink of change, and for many, it’s a moment of deep personal searches and disappointments. Talented but in the throes of a creative crisis, young composer Turdykylysh Iztaev finds himself on the verge of depression. Despite having a family, children, and a stable job, he feels his life has lost its meaning. The music that once filled his soul with joy and inspiration now seems empty and purposeless. Turdykylysh dreamed of composing a song that would leave a mark in history, but now he cannot find a single idea to reignite his creative fire.
His wife, Khanbibi Esenkarakyzy, a renowned poetess with whom he has spent many years, understands that her husband is going through a challenging period. She decides to support him by suggesting a family outing to the mountains to take his mind off his troubles. Khanbibi hopes that the fresh air, the calm of nature, and solitude will help Turdykylysh regain his strength and find a new direction in his music.
However, this retreat takes an entirely unexpected turn. While seeking inspiration amidst the mountains and nature, Turdykylysh meets Nurikamal, a young woman visiting from Akmola. Her vibrant personality and extraordinary beauty captivate the composer like a magnet. She is full of life and embodies the spark he has been searching for in his music—and perhaps within himself. Nurikamal becomes a source of inspiration for Turdykylysh, and he begins composing new melodies that seem destined to be great. Yet the feelings that subtly arise between him and Nurikamal spark not only musical inspiration but also a profound inner conflict.
Khanbibi, sensing her husband drifting away, grows increasingly jealous. She notices how enthralled Turdykylysh is with Nurikamal, and despite her attempts to maintain peace in the family, she cannot help but see that this young muse is more than just a source of creative inspiration. Khanbibi faces a painful choice: support her husband’s search for inspiration to bring him back to life and creativity, or do everything in her power to save their family, preventing passion and jealousy from destroying their relationship.
With each passing day, Khanbibi edges closer to a decision: to "gift" her husband the inspiration he desperately seeks or intervene to preserve the family before its cracks become irreparable. In this tangled web of love, inspiration, and jealousy, each character must choose what matters most: personal happiness or harmony within the family.
