“I Love You and Melt Away…”

A gallery of female lyrical images of the world opera will be presented to the audience of the Chamber Hall on February 27. The famous arias, duets and scenes from the operas by Kazakhstani, Italian and Russian composers will be performed by Astana Opera soloists, including Madina Islamova (soprano), Ramzat Balakishiyev (tenor) and Honoured Worker of Kazakhstan Azamat Zheltyrguzov (baritone). The concert will also feature soloists of the orchestra: Balzhan Saparova (flute), Lyubov Tkachenko (harp) and Kirill Krasyukov (violin). Piano – Yelena Sakhno, Chief Accompanist of the Astana Opera House. Concert Presenter – musicologist Marzhan Zhakenova.

The phrase sung by Snow Maiden, the heroine of Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s opera, in the Melting Scene has given the name to the evening. However, the other heroines perishing of love such as Liù and Mimi from G.Puccini’s operas Turandot and La bohème, Zhibek from the eponymous opera by Y.Brusilovsky and Giulietta from V.Bellini’s opera I Capuleti e i Montecchi – can also tell ‘I love and melt away’ about themselves. If the main character sadly bids farewell to her fiancé and friends, we are, on the contrary, happy about the early arrival of spring and its first holiday, on which women receive confessions of love.
