“The Kazakh Quartet Invites” Cycle
Concert
Mozart. Debussy. Makhambet.
The Kazakh State String Gaziza Zhubanova Quartet as always gladdens guests of the capital city and its devoted fans with the new concert programme, featuring the exquisite and life-affirming music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, brilliant representative of the French impressionism Claude Debussy, as well as the Kazakh warrior, poet and patriot Makhambet Otemisuly.
Mozart dedicated his String Quartet No. 17 in B-flat major to his elder colleague and friend Joseph Haydn, whose influence is clearly felt in the music. The title of the work – The Hunt – is connected with the main theme of the first movement, resembling the signals of the hunting horns.
Claude Debussy’s interest in music, the Indonesian Orchestra, “Gamelan”, performed during concerts of the Paris Exhibition, echoed in his String Quartet in G minor. Critics noted unique melodicism, colorfulness of instrumental and harmonious manner and rhythmical inventiveness of the composer.
Heroic character of Makhambet, a fervent patriot, fighter and a man of sharp wit, with an ardent and searching heart, was reflected in Zhumyr, Kylysh kyui.
