“All Sonatas of Ludwig van Beethoven” Series
The God of Music is in His Opus...
The Fourth Concert
The First Violin of the Astana Opera Orchestra – Honoured Worker of Kazakhstan Bagdat Abilkhanov and winner of international competitions pianist Saltanat Abilkhanova are completing the series of concerts “All Sonatas of Ludwig van Beethoven”.
Ten Sonatas for Violin and Piano, created by the great German composer, are masterpieces of chamber music in which two of his favourite instruments found a happy unity. In this music, the echo of the 18th-century gallantry is interconnected with new ideas, which Beethoven then implemented in piano sonatas and symphonies.
The fourth concert of the series “The God of Music is in His Opus...” will feature Sonata No. 7, which the author dedicated to Tsar Alexander I of Russia, and the last sonata written after a ten-year hiatus in this genre. It is dedicated to one of Beethoven's permanent patrons – Archduke and Cardinal-Priest of the titular church of San Pietro in Montorio Rudolf of Austria, composer and pianist.
According to the famous contemporary violinist and conductor Julian Rachlin, “The tenth sonata has nothing to do with the nine previous ones. In it, Beethoven opens up a completely new dimension of music”.
