Chopin and Scriabin:
A Double Portrait in the Interior
An evening of piano music titled “Chopin and Scriabin: A Double Portrait in the Interior” will take place in the Chamber Hall of the Astana Opera House.
Chopin and Scriabin were the Romantic-era composers - European and Russian. Chopin’s music is to a great extent akin to the nobility and subtlety of Adam Mickiewicz’s poetry. The spirit of the Russian Silver Age lives in Scriabin’s music.
The bright individuality of each composer is unquestionable; however, many things unite them. Chopin and Scriabin were the two most ‘piano’ composers of the 19th and early 20th centuries.
Their attraction to the same genres of piano music, including preludes, waltzes, etudes, sonatas and fantasias, is obvious. In his early period of creativity, Scriabin, of course, was strongly influenced by the works of Frédéric Chopin. Although, Scriabin’s style markedly changed in the middle and late period of his creative work, elegancy, sophistication and acuteness of intonation are typical for both composers.
Music Director of the project, Professor Vyacheslav Uzbekov and young Kazakhstani pianists will present the romantic music concert.
The programme will feature works by Frédéric Chopin and Alexander Skriabin.
