DIALOGUE BETWEEN MUSICAL EPOCHES

On 29 September 2017, the famous Gaziza Zhubanova State String Quartet will give a concert, featuring the winner of international competitions Yernar Nurtsazin (piano).

The G. Zhubanova Quartet is one of the finest chamber ensembles not only in Kazakhstan but also in the world: numerous titles and awards given by many prestigious international music forums are a testimony to it. The Quartet is notable for great performance mastery, filigree-playing technique, clean and harmonious sound, which is achieved not only thanks to talent, but also thanks to endless hard work.

During the new Season, the Quartet will continue a series of concerts from “The Kazakh Quartet Invites” cycle given in the Chamber Hall of the Astana Opera House. The programme will feature works by J. Haydn, R. Schumann and D. Shostakovich.

The Piano Quintet in G Minor, op. 57 by Dmitri Shostakovich (for quartet and piano) was enthusiastically received by his colleagues, friends and critics who unanimously emphasized the merits of the new composition. In addition to that, the composer’s Piano Quintet was awarded the Stalin Prize of the first degree in 1941.

The Piano Quintet has been remaining not only one of Dmitri Shostakovich’s best works, but also the most important work of this genre in the entire musical literature of the twentieth century for more than seven decades.

The pianoforte part will be performed by the bright representative of the young generation of the talented Kazakhstani performers Yernar Nurtazin, who is also Principal Conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of the State Academic Philharmonic Society of the Astana Akimat.
