In the beginning, there was the Word. It brought people together. From it came emotion, community, and civilization. Then came power. Order. Authoritarianism… And one day - the Word was lost. A mute society remained. And three people.

This performance was staged as part of the aLqa project - an initiative that places value and artistic exploration at the heart of Kazakhstan’s contemporary theatre landscape. aLqa brings together theatre-makers and academic experts to foster the creation of high-quality works rooted in democratic ideals and new aesthetic conventions. As part of the project, courses in playwriting and directing were held. Five selected playwrights wrote original plays, which were then brought to the stage by five directors. The playwriting course was led by Ännas Bağdat, and the directing course by renowned actor, director, and theatre educator Kuba Adilov.
