Piano Music Concertin Memory of Alberto Ginastera (1916-1983)
The Argentine pianist Luis Ascot will give a concert with the support of the Embassy of Switzerland to Kazakhstanin the Chamber Hall of the Astana Opera House.
Luis Ascot is a renowned pianist, Honorary Professor of the Conservatory of Music in Geneva. His teachers were Moritz Rosenthal, Theodor Szanto, Isidore Philipp and Edwin Fischer, direct descendants of the great composers and teachers Franz Liszt and Ferruccio Busoni.
Luis Ascot has been honoured in numerous international competitions. He has performed on many stages in Europe and America. In 1995, he carried out an extensive concert tour in India, and in 2007, in China.
In 1998, at the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires he played the role of the Pianist in Umberto Giordano’s opera Fedora, along with MirellaFreni, Plácido Domingo and Sherrill Milnes, who performed other leading roles.
The personal friend of Alberto Ginastera and the outstanding interpreter of his works, Luis Ascot has spread the composer’s music throughout his career. He gained special critical acclaim for performing A. Ginastera’s piano works and Concert No.1 for Piano and Orchestra Op.28. In 2003, he gave a series of concerts in many European countries and America, in memory of the Argentine composer, to commemorate the 20th anniversary of his death.
Luis Ascot serves as a juror for international piano competitions and offers master classes at conservatories and universities in different countries.
In 2011, the Argentine Music Critics Association distinguished Luis Ascot with the Prize to Artistic Career.
