THE CONCERT IS HELD IN KAZAKH LANGUAGE
The concert-presentation “Anama Tagzym” is presented by the renowned composer, folklore researcher, and master of throat singing, Honoured Worker of Kazakhstan Yedil Khussainov. He is also known as the “one-man orchestra” for his rare talent as a multi-instrumentalist, virtuosically mastering the ancient Kazakh musical instruments.
The concert programme features works by Yedil Khussainov, as well as a presentation of his book “Anama Tagzym”.
Yedil KHUSSAINOV
Born in Almaty in 1955. Graduated from the Kurmangazy State Conservatory in Almaty with a major in composition. A student of the great folklorist Bolat Sarybayev, he underwent internships in playing ancient instruments in Sakha-Yakutia, Altai Republic, Khakassia (RF) and Mongolia. Winner of the International Competition in Austria (1998). He is proficient in playing the zhetygen, sybyzgy, sazsyrnai, shankobyz and others. A master of throat singing (a unique type of vocal called komei). His work is represented by folklore genres, ethno-symphonic and ethno-jazz-rock music.
Toured Europe, USA and many countries in Asia.
Released CDs in Austria, USA, England, Norway and Kazakhstan.
His solo albums Ilbis Yeli and Bulbul Zaman were recorded at the famous Abbey Road Studios (London). He released a collection of kuis for sybyzgy titled Shynzhan Kazaktardyn Sybyzgy Kuileri.
He is the score composer for the films Kurak Korpe, Kelin and Anshy Bala, as well as for the plays Abylaikhan Armany and Kem Duniye for the Kazakh Music and Drama Theatre named after K. Kuanyshbayev.
A member of the Union of Composers of the Republic of Kazakhstan. A member of the Board of Trustees of the public organization “Madeni Astana”. He is a teacher at the Kazakh National Academy of Music.
