Chamber Music Concert

La Musique Romantique

Famous musicians Yermek Kurmanayev (cello) and Anara Kamelinova (piano) will present an evening of sonatas.

The concert programme features works by romantic composers of the 19th century: Franz Schubert, one of the first who established a tradition of free romantic interpretation of chamber music, Johannes Brahms, an artist of the innermost “movements of the soul”, as well as the classic of the 20th century Dmitri Shostakovich, whose only cello sonata is considered the most romantic amongst his compositions.

Yermek Kurmanayev is one of the most famous Kazakhstani performers, worthily representing the musical art of Kazakhstan abroad.

Even since his first professional years, namely since 1996, Yermek Kurmanayev has begun performing abroad at competitions: in Austria, Poland, France, Russia and, of course, at home in Kazakhstan.

The national audience for the first time heard in his performance such pieces as Symphony-Concerto by S. Prokofiev, Concerto for Cello and Orchestra by G. Zhubanova, Concerto for Cello and Orchestra by R. Schumann, Pezzo Capriccioso by P. Tchaikovsky and First Concerto for Cello and Orchestra by D. Shostakovich.

The brilliant virtuoso, sophisticated musician Yermek Kurmanayev continues to delight listeners with his art.

Anara Kamelinova was born into a musical family; began to play the piano at the age of six. She graduated from the Kazakh National University of Arts, where she currently teaches. Together with Yermek Kurmanayev and other musicians, she performs at chamber music concerts and actively promotes Kazakhstani musical art in the country and abroad.
