Dedication

(To the 180th anniversary of Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov)

THE CONCERT IS HELD IN RUSSIAN LANGUAGE

The concert “Dedication” in honour of the 180th anniversary of the Russian composer Nikolai Andreyevich Rimsky-Korsakov will feature opera soloists, instrumental musicians and artists of the Astana Opera Orchestra. Guest of the concert –  Honoured Artist of Russia Pavel Chernykh (bass).

The depth of Rimsky-Korsakov’s natural musical talent, the breadth of his interests and his versatile musical activities place him among the outstanding figures of Russian art. Despite not having a complete professional musical education (he graduated with honours from the Naval Cadet Corps), the most “fairy-tale” Russian composer skillfully embodied numerous folklore characters and images of the deep sea in his works, captured through orchestral colours.

Rimsky-Korsakov worked prolifically not only in the field of opera and symphonic composition but also gained wide popularity for his romances – the most famous of which will be performed this evening. The concert programme will also include instrumental compositions by the composer, as well as arias and duets from his operas.
