Tal Besikten – Zher Besikke...

THE CONCERT IS HELD IN KAZAKH LANGUAGE

The ancient holiday Korisu ait, bequeathed by ancestors and naturally integrated into our lives, is celebrated a week before Nauryz.

On this day (14 March) Kazakhs, who led a nomadic way of life and were primarily engaged in livestock breeding, counted their livestock, rejoiced at the end of winter cold and exchanged greetings to welcome the spring. According to tradition, they first visited elderly relatives, went to the elders of their kin, paying tribute and respect.

Even today, on Korisu ait, people extend an open hand and exchange handshakes with a special feeling, saying, “Berekе men bіrlіktіn meiramy Korisu kuni kutty bolsyn! Bir zhastarynyzben!”

As congratulations and good wishes during Korisu ait, folk songs and compositions by Kazakhstani composers will be featured in the festive concert programme “Tal Besikten – Zher Besikke...” presented by the Chamber Choir of the State Academic Philharmonic of the Astana Akimat.
