This year marks the 340th anniversary of the brilliant German composer Johann Sebastian Bach. For over three centuries, the works of this great Baroque master have continued to inspire humanity.

As a tribute to the artistry of the legendary composer, organist and educator, the Baroque Music Festival “Bach and His Contemporaries” will take place. Over the course of three musical evenings, alongside Bach’s masterpieces, the festival will feature works by his contemporaries and followers, including Antonio Vivaldi, George Frideric Handel, and others.

The driving force behind the festival is violinist Aisulu Baikenova, Honoured Worker of Kazakhstan and soloist of the Astana Opera Symphony Orchestra. She will be joined in the festival programme by opera soloists, the chorus and the symphony orchestra of the theatre.

The first concert of the festival will include compositions by J.S. Bach as well as the vocal-symphonic oratorio Gloria by Antonio Vivaldi.
