Heritage in Stitches: a journey through the embroidery and Sewing Traditions of Uzbekistan

Description

Sanitary day is the last Tuesday of every month.

Attention! These days the museum is closed to the public.

Every third Sunday of the month entrance to the museum for residents of the Republic of Kazakhstan is FREE (except for foreign exhibitions)

Promotion: During the holidays, admission to the museum in the halls of permanent exhibitions and temporary exhibitions (except for foreign exhibitions) is FREE for CHILDREN.

From March 20 to June 1, 2025, the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan will host the international exhibition «Heritage in Stitches: a journey through the embroidery and Sewing Traditions of Uzbekistan.»

This unique exhibition, titled "Heritage in Stitches," invites visitors to embark on an exciting journey through the rich history of Uzbekistan's sewing and embroidery traditions: golden-embroidered robes, traditional tublik with "guldusi" and "zaminduzi" embroidery, paranjis and chachvans, jewelry, decorative suzani embroideries, and unique examples of traditional footwear and accessories.

These works are not only masterpieces of handcraft but also bear deep symbolism, reflecting the cultural heritage of Central Asia. The skillfully crafted embroideries tell of the diversity of patterns and techniques, each preserving the history and traditions of the Uzbek people.

Visitors to the exhibition will have the opportunity to view rare exhibits from the collections of leading museums in Uzbekistan for the first time: • The State Museum of Applied Arts of Uzbekistan

• The State Museum of Temurid History

• Samarkand State Historical and Cultural Reserve Museum

• The State Museum of Arts of Uzbekistan
