“Dedication to Maestro”

On January 31, the “Dedication to Maestro” concert, devoted to the 80th anniversary of the birth of the Soviet and Russian opera singer, People's Artist of the USSR, Hero of Socialist Labour Yevgeny Nesterenko, will take place in the Chamber Hall of the Astana Opera House.

One of the prominent opera singers of the last century, who sung more than 50 leading parts and performed 21 operas in their original language, Yevgeny Nesterenko performed on the stages of the world’s major opera houses including  La Scala in Milan (Italy), Metropolitan Opera in New York (USA), the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London (Great Britain), the Vienna State Opera (Austria) and many others.

Renowned opera singers, Nesterenko’s students and colleagues, will express deep gratitude to their teacher.

People’s Artist of Armenia, bass Barseg Tumanyan will perform the arias of Godunov, Gremin and Kochubey from Tchaikovsky’s operas Boris Godunov, Eugene Onegin and Mazeppa, and other works. Aigul Niyazova will present soprano repertoire: art songs by R.Schumann and S. Rachmaninoff, as well as Iolanta’s aria from P.Tchaikovsky’s eponymous opera.

Mezzo-soprano Dina Khamzina will brilliantly present her vocal and artistic skills in scenes from the operas The Tsar’s Bride by N.Rimsky-Korsakov and Adriana Lecouvreur by F.Cilea.

Baritone Azamat Zhetyrguzov, who studied under Y.Nesterenko in Vienna, will perform arias from the operas by P.Tchaikovsky, G.Verdi and N.Rimsky-Korsakov, as well as art songs by G.Sviridov.
