Symphonic Music Concert

Three Epochs Three Destinies

(J.S.BACH, B. BARTÓK, A. BRUCKNER)

The programme of the symphonic music concert features works by the composers who vividly expressed their era: Johann Sebastian Bach – the German baroque of the 18th century, Anton Bruckner – the late Austro-German romanticism of the 19th century, and Béla Bartók – the classics of the Hungarian music of the 20th century.

The first part will be opened by the noble graceful Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 by J.S. Bach – one of the six concertos dedicated by the great musician to Margrave Christian Ludwig of Brandenburg, a great admirer of the composer’s work. However, during the composer's lifetime, the Brandenburg Concertos were not performed. The scores were kept in the Margrave's library for a hundred years and were discovered by accident. But today, J.S. Bach's Brandenburg Concertos are constantly performed by the best chamber orchestras in the world.

This year sees the 140th anniversary of Béla Bartók’s birth, a Hungarian composer, pianist, teacher, musicologist, folklorist, musician and innovator of the 20th century. B. Bartók is the author of a large number of chamber works, including string quartets, piano music, as well as orchestral and stage works. The tribute to this outstanding composer will be a performance of his Divertimento for String Orchestra.

The second part of the concert will feature a work by the renowned composer-symphonist, a prominent and outstanding creator of Western European culture at the end of the nineteenth century – Anton Bruckner.

The second movement of Symphony No. 7 is one of the most inspiring and stunning creations of Bruckner's genius – a funeral ode dedicated to the memory of Richard Wagner. Its majestic, emotional finale grows to a universal, cosmic scale, which ends with a radiant hymn.

The Astana Opera Symphony Orchestra under the baton of the Honoured Worker of Kazakhstan Abzal Mukhitdin will present their interpretation of the masterpieces of the symphonic classics.
