Fantasias, Blues and Foxtrot

On June 29, 2018, the musicians of the Astana Opera Symphony Orchestra will present the original programme in the Fantasias, Blues and Foxtrot concert.

There will be performed pieces by composers who created in the second half of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries (Franck, Saint-Saëns, Gershwin, Massenet, Walter-Kühne, etc.).

The audience will enjoy music performed by unusual instrumental ensembles (violin and harp; violin, cello and harp, etc.). The works by the great romantic composers presented in such ensemble combinations will reveal the new shades of familiar music.

Saint-Saëns. Fantasia for Violin and Harp in A major, op. 124

 

Walter-Kühne. Fantasia on the themes from Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin for harp solo

 

Gershwin. Three Preludes (transcribed by Jascha Heifetz) for violin and piano

The first prelude B-dur, Allegro ben ritinato e deciso (composed in the rhythm of the Charleston)

The second prelude cis-moll, Andante con moto (three-part blues)

The third prelude es-moll, Allegro ben ritmato (fast foxtrot)

 

Massenet. Méditation from the opera Thaïs for cello and harp

 

Händel - Halvorsen. Passacaglia for violin and cello
