 (dedicated to the 180th anniversary of P.I. Tchaikovsky)

Soloist – Maira Mukhamedkyzy

 

The leading soloist of the Astana Opera House, Honoured Artist of Kazakhstan, Laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Maira MUKHAMEDKYZY dedicates an evening of Russian art songs to the anniversary of P.I. Tchaikovsky.

The creative life of Maira Mukhamedkyzy is closely connected with the name of the great Russian composer: in 1998 she was the first and only vocalist in Kazakhstan to become a winner of the P. Tchaikovsky International Competition in Moscow and received M.Y. Davydov special diploma. This victory opened doors for her to the stages of many famous theatres, including the Opéra de Paris, where she was also the first to present Kazakhstani musical art.

 

Maira Mukhamedkyzy is the pride of the national operatic art. Her name is on the playbills of the best theatres in the world. The singer's solo performances took place in Beijing, Hong Kong, London, Istanbul, Delhi, Seoul, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Budapest and other cities of many countries.

The artist's repertoire includes main roles such as Azhar (Abai by A. Zhubanov and L. Khamidi), Zhibek (Kyz Zhibek by Y. Brussilovsky), Violetta (La Traviata), Gilda (Rigoletto) and Élisabeth de Valois (Don Carlos) by G. Verdi, Musetta (La bohème) and Liù (Turandot) by G. Puccini, Micaela (Carmen by G. Bizet), Marguerite (Faust) and Juliet (Romeo and Juliet) by C. Gounod, Adina (L’Elisir d’Amore by G. Donizetti) and many others.

 

The concert programme features art songs by P. Tchaikovsky and S. Rachmaninoff.
