ALESSANDRO SAFINA. ITALIAN TENOR OF INTERNATIONAL RENOWN

Alessandro Safina became interested in music as a child. His parents were ardent opera fans and tried to pass on this passion to their son. At the age of 17 he entered the conservatory in Florence, and in a few years he was already soloing in the best musical theaters in Europe. The first prize of the International Vocal Competition named after Kati Ricciarelli in 1989 was followed by active stage work and leading roles in the operas «La Bohème», «The Barber of Seville», «The Love Drink», «Rusalka» and «Eugene Onegin».

Safina's unique voice, natural charm and creative courage made him world-famous. Performing opera arias, he dreamed of making classical art understandable to the ordinary listener. As a result, a new genre was born, which the artist himself would later call «opera rock» - a style that combined elements of pop music, academic vocals, soul and musical.

A great success came to him in the Netherlands. The single Luna from the album «Insieme a te» stayed at the top of the Dutch charts for 14 weeks. The album itself went quadruple platinum here and was released in three dozen other countries. Alessandro gave the world amazing duets with Sarah Brightman, Elton John, Ewan McGregor, Barbara Hendricks, Sumi Cho. He has also appeared in movies and contributed to soundtrack recordings for films including «Moulin Rouge!» Baz Luhrmann and the TV series «Clone».
