Sounds of an oboe

On February 9, the Sounds of an oboe concert as part of the “Baroque” musical lounge will take place. The renowned Kazakhstani oboist Damilya Makhpirova, who is rightly called the ‘golden oboe of Kazakhstan’, will show the audience her artistic skills. Her students who are studying at the Kazakh National University of Arts and the Astana Opera Chamber Orchestra will take part in the concert. Conductor - Honoured Worker of Kazakhstan Abzal Mukhitdinov.

The programme will include works for oboe by such 17th and 18th century composers as Johann Sebastian Bach, Tomaso Albinoni, Antonio Vivaldi and others.

Oboe is a musical instrument with a nice and rich sound, and is considered the hardest woodwind instrument to play.

Damilya Makhpirova is a musician of the Astana Opera Symphony Orchestra and concertmaster of oboes. She is a graduate of the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory in Almaty (class of Professor T. Nuraliyev), laureate of many international competitions, teacher and virtuoso performer. Her parts of oboe playing in opera and ballet performances is considered to be of the highest standard.
