Universal Ballet was founded in 1984, in Seoul, Korea. With dancers and staff from more than a dozen countries throughout Europe, the US and Asia, Universal Ballet embodies the blending of the grace and harmony of Asian thought and culture with the strength and beauty of western classical ballet. Universal Ballet now led by General Director Julia Moon, Artistic Director Brian Yoo and Artistic Director Emeritus Oleg Vinogradov steadily gains fame and recognition. Universal Ballet received a great number of awards including the Presidential Award for the Performing Arts from President of Korea in 1999.

The slogan of the Universal Ballet is «Heavenly Art Creating a World of Beauty». With firm belief that the art of ballet makes the world better and more beautiful, the company made a worldwide tour, performing in the cities of Japan, Columbia, China, Turkey, South Africa, Russia, France, USA, Canada, Oman and Singapore.

Universal Ballet performs well known classical ballets such as Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Don Quixote, Giselle and La Bayadère, as well as contemporary masterpieces such as Wiiliam Forsythe’s In the Middle, Somewhat Elevated, Jiri Kylian’s Petite Mort and SechsTanze, Hans van Manen’s Black Cake, Nacho Duato’s Multiplicity, Forms of Silence and Emptiness, Na Floresta and Duende, Heinz Spoerli’s All Shall Be, Christopher Wheeldon’s Variations Serieuses and OhadNaharin’s Minus-7. Their repertoire includes also national ballets «Shim Chung-A Legend from the Far East» and « The Love of Chunhyang» in which Korean folklore combines with classical ballet.
