On April 26, the Symphony Concert featuring classical music masterpieces, which will be performed by the Astana Opera Symphony Orchestra under the baton of the Astana Opera Principal Conductor, Honoured Worker of Kazakhstan Alan BURIBAYEV, will take place. 

Soloist – Freddy KEMPF (piano, Great Britain).

J. Brahms. Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No.1 in D minor, op.15

G. Mahler. Symphony No.5 in C-sharp minor

 

Freddy Kempf is one of today’s most successful artists. Born in London in 1977, Freddy made his debut at the age of eight along with the London Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. In 1992, he won the BBC Young Musician of the Year Competition. In 1998, he won the third prize at the 11th Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition in Moscow.

Today, he performs to sell-out audiences all over the world. The pianist has worked with the acclaimed conductors such as Charles Dutoit, Vasily Petrenko, Sir Andrew Davis, Vassily Sinaisky, Riccardo Chailly and many others. He has performed with the world’s leading orchestras, including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Gothenburg Symphony, the Swedish Chamber Orchestra, the Tchaikovsky Bolshoi Symphony Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the San Francisco Symphony, La Scala Philharmonic, the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra (Australia), the NHK Symphony (Japan), the Dresden Symphony, etc.

Recent highlights include Kempf’s engagements as a conductor.

The pianist gave his solo concerts at the most prestigious venues, including the Moscow’s Great Hall of the Conservatoire, the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Warsaw Philharmonic, the Verdi Conservatory in Milan, the Buckingham Palace in London, Suntory Hall in Tokyo and Sydney City Hall.

Freddy Kempf was awarded the prestigious Classic BRIT Awards (2001). He has also received the title of Honorary Doctor of Music from the University of Kent (2013).

 

Alan Buribayev

Honoured Worker of Kazakhstan, Principal Conductor of the State Opera and Ballet Theatre “Astana Opera”, Principal Conductor and Artistic Director of the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra.

Alan Buribayev graduated from the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory where he studied violin, and opera and symphony conducting. He undertook further studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.

The victory at the International Competition of Young Conductors Lovro von Matačić in Zagreb brought him international acclaim and engagement with several European orchestras. Alan Buribayev collaborates with such major orchestras as the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Leipzig Gewandhaus, the Rotterdam Philharmonic, as well as with the Melbourne Symphony, the Baltimore Symphony, the Tokyo Symphony, the Bolshoi Orchestra, etc.

In 2014, Alan Buribayev assumed the duties of the Chief Guest Conductor of the Japan Сentury Symphony Orchestra (Osaka, Japan).

At the State Opera and Ballet Theatre “Astana Opera”, he took part in staging the operas Abai by A. Zhubanov and L. Khamidi (2015), Madama Butterfly by G. Puccini (2016), Carmen by G. Bizet (2017), as well as conducted the Second and the Eighth Symphonies by G. Mahler. Alan Buribayev is an acclaimed connoisseur and interpreter of music by G. Mahler.
